Chapters 4–5, Hebrew set right to left
The ebook stored the consonants left-to-right, so final letters showed up at the start of the word. This is the same material with standard Biblical Hebrew pointing. Keep the book for the English discussion; use this for the forms. Drill them in study.html (Words → Endings / Article / Waw / ch. 4 / ch. 5).

5 · Definite article
Prefixed ה. Default: pathach + dagesh forte in the first consonant. Gutturals and usually resh refuse the dagesh, so the pathach often becomes qamets. Before some ח / ע with qamets the article is seghol. Before יְ or מְ the dagesh drops and the pathach stays.
| Article | When | Example |
| הַ | ordinary consonants; dagesh forte in the first letter | מֶלֶךְ → הַמֶּלֶךְ |
| הָ | before א ה ע ר (compensatory lengthening) | אִישׁ → הָאִישׁ |
| הַ | virtual doubling: ה / ח, no dagesh, pathach stays | הֵיכָל → הַהֵיכָל |
| הֶ | before ח / ע when the noun’s first vowel is qamets | חָכָם → הֶחָכָם |
| הַ | before יְ / מְ: dagesh dropped, pathach not lengthened | יְלָדִים → הַיְלָדִים |
